looking back on my wedding through books

Hi Reader,

Today's email is a more personal one. Yesterday, I celebrated my sixth wedding anniversary.

In case you were wondering, yes, books were mentioned in the ceremony! My husband and I each filled out a questionnaire for our officiant, and I talked about The Five Love Languages in mine, which he repeated to our closest friends and family:

If you all know Julianne, you'll know that she's literary. She's a reader, a book lover. For a good relationship read, she goes to The Five Love Languages, which, if you don't know it, offers a window into the different ways that different people feel most valued and appreciated. For Julianne, it's about spending time together.

At the time, I was a lawyer, so who would have thought that just six months later, I'd start a book blog that would become my career?

Days like this always give us the opportunity to reflect. I think about the pandemic that was unknown at the time, the people (and cat) we've lost since then, the home move we made, our career trajectories, the realities of aging, and all the other highs and lows in between. Next year, I'll add even more to that list.

This range of emotions is why weddings make for such interesting plots. And, I'm not just talking about romance! There are mysteries, historically significant tales, and, of course, family dramas as well.

Want to keep the wedding season going in a literary way?

Remember, it's a good day to read a book.
